National Youth Council (NYC), was set up by the Singapore Government on 1 November 1989 as the national co-ordinating body for youth affairs in Singapore and the focal point of international youth affairs.
On 1 January 2015, NYC will begin its operations as an autonomous agency under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and will house two key institutions: Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) and Youth Corps Singapore. Together, the agency will drive youth development and broaden outreach to young Singaporeans and youth sector organisations.
Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth is the Chairman of the 13th Council. The Council comprises Members of Parliament, youth leaders and representatives from youth organisations, public, private and people sectors who have the expertise, experience and interest to contribute towards the development of youths and the youth sector in Singapore.
At NYC, we believe in a world where young people are respected and heard, and have the ability to influence and make a difference to the world. Together with our partners, we develop a dynamic and engaging environment where young people are inspired to dream and committee to action.
